Run Out Of Gas? Here’s What You Should Do

Having your car stalled on the road due to running out of gas is a very easy situation to prevent. However, there are still lots of drivers who don’t regularly check their gas levels. Sometimes they know that their fuel level is low but they mistakenly estimate that it can still get them to where they need to be until they end up in the middle of the road without gas.

If this ever happens to you, do you know what to do? Don’t leave things to guesswork, we’re here to tell you what you should exactly do.

Safely Pull Over

When you feel that your gas is about to run out or when it starts to slow down, you can still steer your car to pull over on the side of the road. It is quite dangerous for you and for the other motorists to have a stalled vehicle in the middle of the road. It is also very inconvenient for the public because that can cause a traffic jam.

When doing this, it is important to calm down so you can safely maneuver the vehicle. Don’t panic or at least try not to because it won’t help. Make sure you turn on the hazard lights on your vehicle too so that other people can and the motorist can also clearly see you.

Call A Refuelling Service

Many roadside services or towing service providers also provide gas delivery services. Call them and have some gas delivered to exactly where you are. Depending on where you are and where the company is dispatched, you can be on your way in no time.

Call A Friend

Another thing that you can do is to call a friend or family member to help. Most of the time, they would be very willing to give you a helping hand. Just make sure not to do it often or they can get annoyed if you always call them for gas.

Search For Gas Stations Nearby

Look for gas stations near the area where you are through your phone or computer. Don’t simply walk out of your car without any direction on where to go. Online search is quick to do and you can use the GPS capabilities of your phone to pinpoint the nearest gas station.

Walk To The Gas Station

Once you find a nearby gas station that you think you can walk to, it’s time to go out and buy yourself some gas for your car. However, you should only do this if it is safe. Don’t go out of your vehicle and walk to a gas station at night or through severe weather conditions. It is much safer to stay inside the vehicle and call for help, so don’t do it.
